My sync rate is rocketing

I'm puzzled! Until about a month ago my sync rate had never allowed me to get a BT profile of over 5000, if I was lucky. Of late however it has been rising steadily and this morning I synced at 7552. My downstream attenuation is steady at 46 and by road I'm about 2 miles from the exchange. AFAIK there is no work going on at it or near by me, and I have made no change to my set up.

Obviously I'm not moaning, but just curious, why the sudden improvement.

Ideas friends?:D

Profiling is something that is done periodically and can also be initiated with a certain trigger number of disconnects and reconnects in a period.

Though generally disconnects can lead to lower profiling? It has been suggested that perhaps additional "servers" have been installed at the local exchange. Building work has been going on. Could that be an explanation? I'd always thought that a major determinant of speed was line attenuation /distance

Could well be the weather as it gets colder.

Seeing as I have had the same connection winter and summer, surely I would have experienced the same before? Actually where I'm located has a highly un-extreme climate.
