Negotiating Airline Fares

Is this ever possible. I am travelling from Edinburgh to Frankfurt with Lufthansa with my family on the 10th April returning 14th April.
We paid £107 p.p but my Mum and Dad have decided they would like to come as well now. The flights on those days are now £183 each, but this is the only day they are more expensive. Are airlines ever flexible with their fares or will they just laugh if I phone them!!
Also if you want to buy 1 ticket rather than 2 it is cheaper. What are the risks of buying 2 individual tickets rather than puting both through on the one booking?
Thanks for any advice.

Just checked with Expedia. They have flights with Lufthansa for £149.70 on those dates.0

Yes, do telephone them. Apart from anything else, a different selection of fares are sold by the telephone agents than by the website.
If you find the per person fare is lower for one person than for two, it is probable that one seat is available at the lower fare, so if you buy it you will then have to pay the higher for for one other person: better than paying the higher fare for both.0
