Did you get anywhere with this? We have the same problem, the boiler is in the garage and the heating is constantly on despite the timer being off. It is 4 am and I can't sleep cos I'm far too hot! I dread to imagine the gas bill!0

Same here. I am fedup with the heating being on all day and night in these cold conditions.. What a crap design. I will have to look into getting a pip stat fitted0 -
I live in rented house and my bolier is in the loft ( silly place as i cant get up there to look at it!)
the heating is on all the time we have to have the windows open as its gets so hot in here.
I have called british gas out quite a few times and they have said that they cant change it. they said if it goes below 5 degress that it will come on and theres nothing i can do. But just lately in the day it hasnt gone below 5 degress.
i have got my last bill in and was horrorfied by the cost of the gas thats been used well wasted! in 3 months it has used £360 shocking. just seems like a silly function!0 -
Hi
It should have a frost protection kit . This is made up of a frost stat and pipestat.(as mentioned in the thread above.)
When the frost stat kicks in it will run until the pipestat sees the rise in temp and shuts down the boiler. If there is just a frost stat then BG will do no more than tell you there is no problem as long as it works. They will only work with what is there.
As it's a rental it's up to the landlord to fit the right kit.
