Barclays Fees

Well I spoke to Barclays Monday morning and they agreed to take one lot of money back but they won't refund the fees. They suggested speaking to A&L and asking them for the money. Is it worth me calling my local branch and asking or is it not likely to make a difference?0

No retail staff or Retail Banking Customer Relations staff have discretion to refund Personal Reserve Service fees, excluding cases where we are at error. This is a bank wide policy. They are fees for a service that you have used. What would William Shatner do?0 -
In that case Barclays and I will be parting company, shame but all good things come to an end.0

If the DD was originated with A&L (if I've understood your post correctly, it was) then the indemnity claim needs to be made with Barclays. This will get your money back if its not back already. As for the £22 reserve usage fee, this has been correctly applied if you have used your reserve, be that due to an A&L error or not.
As for claiming the charge back, in this case the fault lies with A&L, therefore they need to reimburse you. Whilst its easy to blame Barclays as they have charged you, if you look at what has happened, they are clearly not at fault.
I suggest sending A&L a letter with proof of your charge and asking them to refund the charge you've incurred. This really shouldn't take too much effort to get back as there's clearly been a mistake made.
Also, your A&L account should have a sort code (normally 72-50-0x where x is the first digit of your nine digit account number) As A&L are members of FPS (Faster Payments) making a transfer from Barclays online banking should be immediate. Apologies if yours is an account that does not allow transfers in, though I am not aware of any reason why it would not.

No mine quite clearly states that it does not allow transfers in but this will be changing in a few months when they join faster payments (which according to their website they haven't so far).
I can't see I did use the reserve facility really, the money went out Friday and back Monday. I couldn't do anything inbetween. I think it's the non negotiation stance I don't like. I have a few accounts so losing Barclays is no loss to me. I may well close A&L as well if I don't get any joy from them.0
