We have ordered an xbox 360 (60gb) but do not know a lot about them to be honest and although a lot of info can be bound by using google I thought I would ask other members for their advice.

I have read that you connect it to your router. We have wireless broadband, does the xbox have a built in wireless dongle type thingy?

Don't laugh, you know what I mean.

I think to go online you have to buy a Live card, where is the cheapest place you can get these from and can you get any for free anywhere?

Also, besides buying ms points, can you get these anywhere for free?

Ta.,

  • To buy a wireless dongle (official Xbox 360 only) it costs over £50, RRP is £59.99

I would stick to ethernet and hard wire the xbox to the router if that is possible (i.e. close enough) - you should get better online gameplay as well. :)

EDIT: This is what you are looking for: http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/719752/Official-Xbox-360-Wireless-Network-Adapter/Product.html
[It's not the cheapest store available I just wanted to show you what you're looking for]

Well the router is upstairs as it is connected to a Tiscali set top box in our daughter's room.

So I can't use the wireless dongle that I already have then?
  • sorry to hijack the thread, but 1 xbox thread at a time is enough :)
eldest son wants a 360 for xmas/birthday, best deal i can find is from argos
    360 with 60gb hdd
Entertainment pack includes Xbox 360 wireless controller and 2 great games - Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda.
viva pinata (out of stock, never mind)
    £169.95, plus, by spending over £100 a £10 voucher, so essentially £160.
google isn't helping me find anything better, maybe more adult (read violent) games from the usual suspects game/play

No. Needs to be the Xbox one. You could buy a wireless access point, set it up in client mode and connect it to the Xbox via cable.

the 360 doesnt have inbuilt wireless btu as been mentioned you can buy an add on which would make it wireless. You dont need wireless to play on xbox LIVE or use the 360 marketplace but you can use ethernet to access all of that. The 360 also plays dvds eg films or maybe if oyu have pictures on dvd or home movies, also music as well.If you buy a hd dvd player which is £30 then it would also play hd dvds
