Gas switch time?

Hi,

I am looking at changing energy suppliers, but the last time we done this, it took about 4 months, calls to old supplier to freeze account, calls to independant gas transporter and other lots of hassle to switch the gas over.

Our gas meter is supplied by an independant gas transporter (IGT) and the old supplier said they are still supplying, new one said they were supplying.
Is there a maximum time period when for the old supplier to supply details to the new one?

I could save about £200 overall, but not keen on the chasing up every week.

I would look on it like this: I reckon in actual time you could be looking at 4 hours total? If your employer asked you to do a total of 4 hours overtime next week (at a time/s of your choice) and he will give you £200 cash in hand....would you snatch his hand off?
