When I first lived in Japan, I was surprised to get a charge of a few hundred yen for each ATM transaction. However, you could take out 1 million yen (approx. $10k if I remember correctly) at one time.
Since we seem to be heading the way of Japan in terms of interest rates and possibly deflation, I would not be surprised to see this implemented in the UK.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
I think its the other way round. The banks are leveraged and in need of funds, now is not a great time to be losing customers money to competitors
Profits are being squeezed no doubt, rock and a hard place
