Digital Teletext

I have a "first generation" Sony IDTV. The teletext service works but is extraordinarily slow - I use the old analogue service which is far quicker. Is this slowness a feature of digital teletext in general or is it quicker with modern equipment?

I doubt the equipment will make any difference as it is normally broadcast with the tv signal.BR 4/10/07

Just bought a new Panasonic to replace the old (what am I saying - its only five years old but apparently obsolete) Sony. Freeview digital teletext many times faster. Not instant - but at least you see the news before it becomes history.0

Old equipment I'm afraid.
Do you still get software updates through for the Sony?? A lot of firms stopped and support only newer models.
Its best to keep the TV and the receiver seperate.
The £27 ASDA boxes will put a £600 TV to shame on speed.
