computer help

Can anyone offer some advice My emachines pc is about 6 years old and up till yesterday was working fine turned it on it worked for 5 minutes then just screen went blank and instead of a green light around the turn on button on front of the pc the light is flashing yellow and nothing is happening .I have had to unplug the power lead from the back as when you press the button on front nothing happens just the flashing light and a faint clicking noise

    Sounds to me like the power supply as died (The part you plug the mains lead into)
    Fairly cheap and easy to replace though

  • Your computer could possibly use a proprietary motherboard and PSU, which would mean you'd have to replace it with another from eMachines, but I don't think I've heard of any problems with eMachines.

    If you want to double check, compare the colour of the wires on the connection from the PSU to motherboard and see if they match the ATX standard.
