Egg Anniversary offer - BT fees?

I've emailed egg to enquire about my anniversary offer (I took the card out this time last year) and they have replied to say that I'm eligible for it but I only have 3 days left!!!

I was under the mistaken impression that they'd inform me of when my anniversary month was.

They haven't answered my additional question (whenever I write to people they either answer only the one question or a totally different one that I didn't ask, anyone else find this?)

What I want to know is - do they still do SBT's without charging a fee?
My application was made almost 12 months to the day

p.s. Does the transfer date start when you perform it or when the transfer completes?

Thanks

There's no fee for BT's made during the anniversary month. However, Egg are running a 'special promotion' for SOME customers at the moment which started on the 5th December and runs to the end of the month. Those 'affected' have been notified by letter/e-mail, and this offer has a BT fee of 2% (max £50). This offer 'overides' the anniversary offer. Have you had such a communication?

The Egg T&C's say "the date the BT is debited to your account". So, it'll show on your account before your other card provider sees it - due to the BACS 'lag'. With a bit of luck you'll get it done in time - I'm assuming it's already done though, as your first post was this afternoon?

I haven't done it yet but I'll go ahead now

I'd suggest you contact egg in person about this - give them a call on one of the saynoto 0870 alternative numbers - and confirm that December IS your anniversary month and if it is ask them what they can do as they will usually at least inform the lucky customer about 1 week into the month. So I'd say you were entitled to an email reminder [assumes you gave them your current email, of course] and maybe they could extend the period of any transfer you make a month in the circumstances.

Remember to switch payment collection to 'minimum' or you'll pay it all back straight away! The main thing though is to be certain on the month.

    Good luck

  • I received a courtesy call this evening from Egg.

It was to remind me that my Egg anniversary was about to start in January 06, that it is valid until 1 June 06 and there are definitely no transfer fees. She then did try to sell me some card protection which I declined. HTH :xmassign:

  • My Egg Card anniversary's next month. Customer service adviced me that they charge 2% (max £50) for BTs.

Can anyone please verify this, because it seems to be a new policy by Egg? I am balance transferring to my current account.

You can verify it yourself by checking the T&C's on the credit agreement that you signed. For extra confirmation, the Egg website (T&C's, credit agreement, product features, FAQ, etc, etc) currently states that there is NO fee payable, other than during the introductory period or during a 'special promotion' (of which the anniversary offer is NOT one).
  • Hi,

the only time when the bt fees are chargable are on introductionary 0% and special rate promotions, ie 1.9% 3.9% 5.9% 9.9% etc.

there are no bt fees when it comes to the annaversary offer of 0% for up to 5 Months

and you can still SBTs as well.

the transfer date is when u preform the transfer not when the tansfer is completed

    hope this helps
