Strange phone number

Had a call this evening from 00013015612862 Didn't answer it and no message left. Not a typo it was 0001

Quick google revealed
Financial Asset Review sending me something free
from other people who had been phoned

Anyone any idea what this is?

  • What I find strange about the reports about this number is that they always want to speak to someone else - never the person who answers the phone - if a female answers the phone they want to speak to the husband, if a male answers they want to speak with the wife!

Pricing:Choose To Refuse costs £11.25 (ex. VAT) per quarter

Think I'll continue to 'play*' with these callers rather than pay that much.

    Play* - ideas
    1. Leave the phone by the radio while you 'fetch' the required person.
    2. Sound interested - and ask lots of silly questions
    3. If they are the opposite sex - then ask 'what are you wearing?' in a heavy breathing voice
    4. Scream down the phone
    5. Take all their contact details - then threaten to report them
    6. Try selling them something
    Any more ideas?

I remember a guy tried to sell me a mobile phone contract one time. I kept him on for ages as I was having a boring summer holiday (i was 18, about to start uni). I kept him on the phone for ages, wasting the companies money, as at the end I said 'Sorry, I love the phone I have and only spend a tenner a month on it. bye!'. It was funny because I bet the other was annoyed for spending so much time just to get that response!
  • I've had a similar occurance but fought the curiousity to call back - I suspect that's part of the scam? Ring, leave no message so that people call back on some ridiculous rate number.

Like the tactics to get rid of cold callers, I think I'll give the next one to my kids to talk to :rotfl:

    how about

    7. tell really bad jokes to them
    8. ask them weird questions
    9. ask them how they have been today, whats theyre day been like

you should have watched dom jolys the complainers as there was a guy on there who did this sort of thing to call centres who repeatedly called people
