Sony TFT/TV/HD ready 17" at Sainsburys

Just been and picked up a Sony LCD Monitor / Television 17 Inch, MFM-HT75 for £299.99 this is a real bargain, and was down to half price.

Most other electrical retailers are doing this for £499.99, Cheapest elsewhere was John Lewis for £399.99

Its a brilliant monitor, and HD ready too.
The 19" version was £449.99

Hope this helps.

I am sure that Sony 17" TV was £249 in PC World before christmas. It was either £150 or £200 off. Not sure if the offer is still on as I can't see it on the website.
  • How does this one compare to the Samsung available at PCWorld as discussed here

Well the Sony one has the X Black screen, which is excellent!
Also it is HD ready, the connectors at the back have the normal VGA and also the HDI connector too.

The samsung one is 19", but this is 17" I am a Sony one myself, but have read some reviews and it said... the Sony one was the best one on the market.
  • Thanks for that.

The Samsung site states that the Samsung is HD Ready too, I have seen the Sony one in the store this morning...it was the 19" version and was around the £500 mark I believe.

Wonder if PCWorld will be discounting them soon???
  • looks a great deal , just rang my local 2 stores and they are both out of stock (they only had 4 in stock  !) , but they did offer to take my details and ring when they have them back in so fingers crossed !

Whats HDI? I've heard of HDMI, but this sony 17" does have that.

I think ImmyLFC means DVI not HDI. As this Sony 17" LCD has a DVI-D input
  • Good price but I having got one myself I think the PC World Samsung 19" is a much better buy, given that it has a bigger screen, virtual Dolby surround and much higher resolution.

I bought my Sammy with Xbox 360 HD gaming in mind, and that Microsoft have supplied Sammys to video game and electronic stores to showcase the 360's HD abilities obviously gives credibility to the fact that Samsung make great HD tv/monitors.

I've always gone for Sony tvs before (my Sony Vega Widescreen has lasted me the best part of a decade and is still going strong) but the Sammy was just too good a buy.

Given the choice I'd go for the Sammy, especially when you consider the nearest comparible Sony (the 19") goes for around another £200 on top of the 17".

    Good find though.

    :p
  • whaddya know, true to their word Sainsburys just rang and I've got one of these Sonys now. Looks good for the price !
