Trying to connect Freeview to a TV without SCART

I have a TV which only has Audio and Video IN sockets and no scart socket. I bought a splitter to enable a dvd connection which uses 3 sockets ~(yellow line out) and this works fine for the DVD. I have bought a Composite Video and Audio to Scart Cable kit to attach to the TV (using the splitter) but when I attach the Scart end to the freeview box and switch on I cannot seem to get freeview.
Am I doing anything wrong? The instructions for the freeview box state just plug in using the scart and attach your aerial to the box and the set up screen should appear. My TV aerial goes through a signal booster box.
Grateful for any suggestions to resolve this problem. I am in an area that definately gets freeview.

I would disconect the DVD player and splitter and only connect the freeview box to the TV.
Has the Scart adapter at the end of the cable got an in/out switch on it if so it needs to be set to out to pick up the signal from the FV box?
Then just make sure the TV is set to take its signal from the AV sockets.
The signal booster may help or hinder the signal try with and without it.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
It could be that the Scart-RCA cable you have bought only works the other way round (for connecting RCA devices to Scart TVs). That seems to me to be the most likely problem.
If you get an adaptor with a switch (like this) and use it with the cables you have for the DVD player it will probably work.0 -
Thanks. I have been disconnecting the dvd player but I need to keep the splitter as the SCART converter has three AV leads, red white and yellow. I havent yet tried connecting the aerial without the signal booster. There is no switch on the SCART cable.I can offer no resistance, I can offer no respite

(And scart splitters will always have a red cable just ignore it and use white for audio).0 -
Thank you Gizmoleads! Your suggestion for removing the red cable worked perfectly. Many thanks to all for your suggestionsI can offer no resistance, I can offer no respite
