New LG LCD TV problem

Just got a new telly and every few minutes the screen goes black for a millisecond. Is it a fault with the TV or Virgin box? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Watch freeview or a dvd for a while. If its fine then its either the virgin box or the hdmi/scart lead

    Just to confuse people...
  • Because I couldn't find this one when I looked this morning. Sorry but I'm not very technical, as you all may have guessed! Thanks for the advice. Seems to have stopped of it's own accord. Fingers crossed.
  • Best. Post. Ever!
  • Well it started again but think the problem is caused by the input being set to Antenna when I change it to AV1 it seems fine. How do I stop it changing to Antenna? Any clever person know? Thanks.
  • It's doing it again and it's on AV1 so my last theory was rubbish. Must be the telly so will ring empire direct.

unplug everything apart from the aerial and the mains lead
watch normal freeview for the night. If it still does it then, its the tv. (Or youve added a 'booster' amplifier to the aerial which has made it 'too' powerful a signal!)

  • Thanks alienrik. Saw the Virginia Media van around the corner so asked him if there was any issues with the signal, he says not and the fault must be with the telly. Didn't offer to come and have a look though. Suppose they're just too busy.Don't have an aerial as I'm cable so no chance I've added a booster. Wouldn't know what one looks like anyway! Trying to ring Empiredirect but not getting any reply. Fed up now.
