hi,
I have three problems at the moment which I hope you can help me with ...
Aol is not allowing me to in to my email box - is anyone else having the same problem?
I have a MP4 which I have desperately trying to download some podcasts from this site
http://www.ullreys.com/robert/Podcasts/podcasts/podcasts.html
so I get on and do my runnin properly...
I attempted it this morning and although they appear in the list of files on the player (when it is recognised that is) they arent in the files when I look for them on the player itself ... I looked for ages as you have to flick through each individual song/album rather than being able to view the who set as you can on the computer.
I then tried to put the same podcasts onto my phone, its a skype one. The phone kept asking for some sort of download CD... Its so frustrating!!
Jen

What kind of mp3 player do you have?... perhaps it only recognises mp3 and wma files. If you have iTunes, you can load the .m4a file into your library and convert it into MP3 - Instructions here. That should allow it to work with yor phone too.
No idea about AOL, sorry.Russia is HERE0 -
hi,
Thats possible ... it was bought online and it does seem to have a "make" as such ... I dont have itunes.
I have just been back to the site and notice they are offering different ones for MP4 players. When I try to download it, it opens in my computer and plays there and then...
I have always had trouble downloading stuff to it ... maybe its time to look into getting a new one ...0 -
OK, there's a step-by-step guide to converting any music format to MP3 here. You need to download and install a piece of software to do it, but it's small, free safe, and unobtrusive. Then you can convert to MP3 files... the default settings should be fine, and will be compatible will pretty much any MP3 player.
I'm a big fan of cheap chinese flash based mp3 players myself, but the choice is yours!Russia is HERE0 -
Thanks!! I am downloading as we speak ...
I cant say Im a huge fan either (I take it you meant to say your NOT a fan..) now I know the hassles ... I'm saving my Valued Opinions points to put it towards buying a new one.
Do you have any idea why when I have changed servers (from Firefox to IE) my aol email has started working again - it worked fine yesterday.
Thanks

It sounds as if you have what is generally known as an S1MP3 player. I have had a handful in the past, mostly ones I have picked up cheap to resell. In my experience, some I've had have worked well, and are a good alternative to more expensive players and some have had a few software issues.
Basically, they will play MP3 and WMA audio files, as stated above, often OGG files on the MP4 versions and either MTV or AMV video files, even though they're often called MP4 players, they don't actually play MP4 files.
Here is the Wikipedia definition.
And a dedicated S1MP3 website.
And their forum, should be some useful info in there for any problems that might arise with your player.0 -
thanks thats so useful.
I had no idea thats what I had .... I may ask for a proper one anyway from Santa this year as Im sick of messing around with this one.

No, I really am a fan of the cheaper ones. I don't know why, but often the players are much simpler, quicker, have less bloat and are easier to "user service." However, as you've found out, the downside is you can only play non-DRM MP3's or similar (not a big problem for me.)
As for the AOL issue, it should work in either IE or Firefox (and I'd always recommend Firefox first, but that's just me.) - Maybe it was a temporary issue at their end, and it just coincidentally solved itself as you switched? There's a small chance that a Firefox add-on or some malware could be interfering with your log in, but it's not likely. - As long as you have up to date anti virus / antimalware and scan every once in a while then nothing to worry about.
Maybe just stick with what works for the mean time?Russia is HERE0 -
lol thanks I'm not a huge fan of technology .... I just want it to work ...
Thanks I am spardic in running anti-virus software so will do it asap.
