That's a shocking rate, how much was M&S take on it? I know the pound has plummeted but I didn't realise it was that much against the baht. Try and take as much baht as you can if you can get it at a good enough rate as there is a lot of places in thailand that charge an arm and a leg for exchanging most currencies in to local.

Last time I was there, it was about 65 baht to the £1, but that was a couple of year ago now.

That is complete misinformation. Don't change any more money in the UK.

Current rates: 50.64 baht for cash. 51.355 for TCs.

thanks donnie, that is what I have read repeatedly

we have changed quite a bit already but not enough, and I was intending to use my Nationwide Flex Account for taking out the rest when I'm there - which I gather is a recommended account for accessing cash from atms

  • Bear in mind I can destroy nations with a flick of a switch.
Im buying banks, although, only certain ones, some are in such a mess that even I wouldn't buy them at any price !

    MY TIP

get an efn NATIONWIDE ACCOUNT that way at least you can draw out at (aprox) interbank rate with no charges !
There are only 3 colors, 10 digits, and 7 notes; its what we do with them that's important.

Depending on how much more you're thinking of getting you could get a thomas cook credit card which you can apply for in the shop and buy your bahts on that in thomas cook as you get 2% in points back on anything you buy in the shop and 3 months interst free credit you just have to make the minimum payment each month. But do make sure you ask for the vip rate or get them to price match the best rate you can get. The card takes about a week to get to you. Other than that i agree with the others nationwide is best.
