I am looking to buy a new computer and it comes with a dell printer which I am not keen to use as the cartridge is very expensive. please can you get cheaper cartridges to use on dell. Also can I use my old lexmark 32 which is stilll funtional and I have got a spare cartridge I recently bought from e-bay. The problem is the system requirements is windows 95/98,ME/2000. No mention of XP which will be the new one I intend to get from Dell. If i cannot use my current computer, can somebody recommend a very basic printer for occasional use, it's cheap cartridge I am after. Lexmart cartridges are too expensive. Thanks

Hi
Yes you can get cheaper compatible dell cartridges, what model is the printer?0 -
What wonderfullife says is right but I have a couple of other thoughts.
First, I believe that Dell printers are rebranded Lexmarks (so likely to be expensive, as you say). Second I hear that, if you want Dell cartridges not compatables, you MUST order them via the website and that delivery is not exactly quick (meaning you are stuck with a printer you can't use till cartridges arrive).
I get the impression that Epson are currently about the best for cheapness in both the machine itself and consumables.
All this is just what I hear & read on my travels as I have neither Dell or Epson printers. We have Canon printers. Nevertheless I hope my thoughts help.0 -
I got a Dell 720 when they were selling them for £10, and yes to put a new colour and black cartridge in would cost you about £30. They are cunning and only supply partly filled cartridges with the printer.
I have used Inktec for refill kits and find them very good and they do support Dell printers here

Correct, Dell printers are re-badged Lexmarks.
Dell charge an arm and a leg for replacement ink cartridges but you can use astonishingly cheaper Lexmark cartridges if you're competent with a Stanley knife........Google is your friend :jYou'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
Ebay the Inkjet and buy a £50 laser including a toner cart.illegitimi non carborundum0
