I've bought a Logitech 5.1 surround sound system to use with my MP3 player. The box says it is for PC DVD and MP3 but I can't see how to play my MP3 through it. The instruction book is worse than useless. Any ideas?

:hello:  You should have used the end of the loead that would normally plug into your computer and plug it into the headphones plug on your MP3 player. Have you done this? A little bit more information about your wiring and setup will be useful. tigermatt :)
  • Hi
Next to the headphone socket, is another socket that you connect your mp3 player into.

From website The control module's side panel hosts a 1/8-inch headphone output and a 1/8-inch auxiliary input for playing a device such as an iPod.

    Hope this helps

I have a similar setup on my Creative 2.1 speakers, and have plugged my MP3 player into the headphone socket a few times, as they are identical and are very poorly labelled! So make sure you're plugging it into the right one. Also, make sure you have the volume on your MP3 player set to full.

tigermatt and wonderfullife, this works but only gives 2.1 sound. I think I need a Y splitter, but why do Logitech say their 5.1 speakers are fo rmp3 platers when you have to buy add ons?

MP3s, and music in general, only have 2 channels, left and right. At best, 5.1 speaker systems will split the left channel between the left and left surround (split output between both - identical signal, half power), and the right channel between right and right surround (same again). 5.1 will only work if there is Dolby Digital info encoded in the source material (i.e. DVD movies and some PC games).
