Cost of Curtain Alterations

Can anyone tell me how much it's likely to cost to have a pair of ready-made curtains shortened from 72" to 54"? (I stupidly ordered the wrong size from an eBay seller who doesn't offer returns ). Curtains are 100% cotton with 50% cotton 50% polyester linings.
Just wondering whether to reorder the right size (for another £20) and resell these ones, or get them altered - fingers crossed the latter is cheaper!
Thanks!

My mother-in-law recently had the curtains for her conservatory altered - five pairs in all and it cost her £60 - so I think you should be able to get one pair altered for less than buying a new set.0
