New Build on the cheap

Getting hassled to sort out another PC for my boys. could probably throw together a 1.8ghz or so amd machine from my rubbish box, though I suspect many of the components are in the box for a reason, so wanting to start again from new.
currently looking @ aria, £250 for
(£69)19" WS lcd
(£20)Case with 520w PSU (budget pc=budget psu)
(£13)DvdRW
(£52)Intel E2220 @2.4ghz
(£29)MSI Mobo with int. audio
(£19)2 Gig 800mhz ram
all prices vague plus vat...

Wanting to knock £50 off this because i really am tight, and might have to buy 2 (twins) also need to add wireless, though i probably have a couple of working pci cards kicking around.
oops..i forgot to add HDD and GPU...that was an error!
PC use, browsing, online web games, spore + maybe sims etc...
anyone with a bit of spare time got any suggestions besides trade 1 kid in to pay for the other? Usually pc components get 'handed down', i got a new pc, daughter got my 3gig amd, her pile of junk went in the loft, the reasonavle 'junk' became a new pc for father in law, not that he has any idea what he's got

You're not going to knock £50 off Arias prices unless you downgrade some stuff. They do a DVDRW for under a tenner I think and you could use an Asrock motherboard instead of the MSI. They were doing 2GB of Arianet RAM for £9 but from personal experience, I'd not touch it with a bargepole.
  • this is the thing, conor, wondering if there's an integrated gpu solution which is not that bad, maybe amd rather than intel, i suppose i've been spoilt, recently, last 2 builds q9300 and q6600, hard to look at 'inferior' components

  • i suppose reality says £300 is a more sensible price.

  • to continue..i really hate the idea of integrated gpu, so good value c£50 pci-e suggestions, I'm sure someone recommended something recently

consider the amd dual cores with an nvidia 6/7100 series on-board, they really ain't bad at all, use one for my htpc and it handles well encoded 1080p material no bother
