Printer takes a long time to print.

I had a new Epson Stylus D68 before Christmas which I have connected to one of my upstairs computers. The printer is great, printouts are good and I am pleased with it.
However, when I print to the printer via another computer on the network or on the machine it is connected to, it takes a long time before the printer actually starts printing. The print job appears in the Printer Properties in Printers and Faxes, but the printer doesn't start printing until a few minutes later.
Thanks in advance

I presume you mean the "Priority" on the Advanced tab of the Printer properties. I have just checked (never heard of print orders before) and it is set to 1. tigermatt
Hey Im old I can call it what I want :rotfl:
Yeah thats the one...... so that seems fine...0 -
I've just tried turning off the printer then turning it back on again in case it was going into some sort of sleep mode but it made no difference.0

Have you looked to see how large the print job is? If it's several MB it may take some time to stagger across the network...

It does it on prints that just say "test", and it takes a long time on the local machine as well.
I have tried a different USB port just in case that was the problem (I knew it was highly unlikely) and as I said before, tried turning off the printer and turning it back on in case it was going into sleep mode.
I've also tried changing the spooling settings so it prints directly to the printer, but to no avail.
Thanks for all the continuous help.0 -
Update: I have just fixed my problem and, for the benefit of anyone in the future who gets this problem, this is what I did.
First of all, I checked that no other machines were switched on and connected to the printer. On the machine where the printer is connected, I uninstalled the Epson Printer Utility and Epson Printer Driver from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, but didn't delete any of the "unnecessary files" or personal settings. This removed the printer icon from Printers and Faxes. Then, I went into Printers and Faxes, clicked on Add Printer and followed the instructions. When prompted, I selected the USB001 Virtual Printer Port created (and luckily preserved!) when I first installed the printer. I then continued to setup the Network Sharing and type a comment. When I was asked what printer type it was, I clicked Have Disk and inserted my CD-ROM, selecting the correct driver file. The software then installed and I now have immediate printing!
Thanks :T to everyone who helped previously.0
