Any ASDA colleagues able to help?

Hi, I've worked at an ASDA store (not the superstore near where i live) since the start of the summer and i'm on the nightshift.
Although I enjoy my job I'm finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the colleagues in the department I'm working in. Basically I'm a disabled worker and also I am younger than most of the other nightshift colleagues in my department, this has led to the first aider discussing my condition in front of all the night staff in the canteen. The older colleagues also order me around, i am not treated like an equal though other people who are older and started at the same time or later on than me are all treated much better than me. There's another young colleague who needed to take time off and the older women put about a really nasty rumour about her. I know that every time the department doesn't meet target it is blamed on myself or the other girl though i've not been pulled up for this yet.
I filled in an internal transfer request last week and handed it to my manager, I was wondering how long it would take to find out if i'm being moved? I really can't handle this much longer but I don't want to talk to my manager about it because she's really friendly with the colleagues in question and i'm scared it will get back to them that i'm complaining and the situation will just get worse. As I'm nightshift I don't really have access to personnell and don't know how to get in touch with them.

Without further information, your condition may fall under the DDA and as such may have specific handling requirements under the data protection act as it may (very likely) be classed as sensitive information and for your employer to allow this to be broadcast around the workplace could land them in serious trouble.

To contact Personnel ring the store during the day and ask for that dept. Arrange a time asap to go in and have a chat with them.0

Hi
I've heard the managers are quite inept at what they do.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -
Start a grievance procedure, thats what they are there for! why should you have to move because the way they treat you!
If it continues after you have followed grievance procedures, then resign and claim constructive dismissal on the grounds of Disability Discrimination.
Laws are there to protect you, use them to rectify your unfair situation.0 -
Without going into too many details:D, I used to work at that place too, and I put in a grievance about the amount of work I was expected to undertake on my own being responsible for a certain counter in the store. I was pregnant at the time and moved in my department and ended up effectively doing the work of two full-time assistants and getting the equivalent amount of flack when things didn't get done or finished in time.
Initially I made an informal complaint to my managers, and unsatisfied with the response went to personnel with an official grievance. It was all handled to the letter, I could practically see them crossing all the t's and dotting the i's and the people 'up there' bent over backwards and made an A4 bulletpoint list of actions and timescales of changes to be made to my role and the running of the department so no one could accuse them of discrimination. I heard informally that the managers got a right rollocking as well...:D
I'd informally approach your manager, particularly about your condition being discussed (totally out of order), ask if they can explain the reasons why to you as you are unhappy with this, and querying who you are expected to take instructions from as you are getting information from various people and you want to be clear. You can always write this in a note if you don't want to talk face-to-face.
I'd advise taking it further if you aren't happy with the response and filing an official grievance. I agree with foxwales myself, and I bet you'd find if you sat down and actually got to the point of doing so, they'd be in such a panic that they'd be all of a sudden helping you out left, right and centre!
I hope you get it all sorted.Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

I would advise you to take this through the official command in the store.
Once you've highlighted the issues, you may well find you're more protected than others, in that, once the issue has been dealt with any further harassment / abuse once you could claim victimisation on the grounds of making an official complaint.
Go for it, honestly, you have nothing to lose, let the “Click” know you're not afraid to a) stand up and be counted b) you're not afraid of them.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0
