As a Ryanair user would you use this service

I've not booked with Ryanair, but I don't understand why I would save £30 if you booked it with a debit card instead of me booking it with a debit card.
Would this not make you a travel agent, in which case you might want to look into ABTA / IATA protection, client money rules, etc.
Because you get charged £8 per person (not per transaction) when paying with credit or debit card as this would cover admin charges. While with either an electron or laser, it's free.
So for an average family (4 in a family) You will be looking to save £32, otherwise you would have to pay ontop of your flights.0 -
OMG - so they charge £8 per person to use a debit card when they would be charged less than 10p for the transaction - thats shocking. Any idea why an electron is free but a debit card £8 pp - would have thought the admin was the same.
Just checked my connect card -that's visa delta now, but used to be electron.0 -
Wouldn't touch it with anyone elses...Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

Because they can. But I can see people taking them down the same route as banks for over charging.
Also most people don't have electron cards, so more profit to be made.
Have you heard about the £8 per luggage going into the hold handeling fee?
So when they advertise 'Free' flights, believe me its anything but free.0 -
I am flying to Dublin next year with Ryanair. I paid 1p per person per way (so 4p for me and my husband return) and then a £4.00 debit card fee. So a total of £4.04 for 2 return tickets.
No luggage as we are just going for the one night and I can fit a toothbrush and clean underwear in my pocket!
So in that case we got a bargain. But once you start adding bits on it becomes a pricey experience.I am a Travel Agent My company’s ATOL/ABTA numbers are E7760/3970. Haven't you been reading about Ryanair and the 'screen scraper' row? In their Ts and Cs it clearly states that they will cancel any booking where it has been made for commercial gain or by a third party.
Aside from that, what licence do you have to sell air travel? It's a strongly regulated business. If the Ryanair flight were cancelled or if they went bust would you have the financial protection as the re-seller to refund your customers? Thought not.
Also, not many people are aware that paying for your flights through one source and your accommodation through another means that you have no protection at all. So your customers will lose out if something were to go wrong.
I have worked in the industry for 10 years and I can assure there is a lot more to selling travel than putting a bank card number through a website.
What you are proposing verges on illegal.
Ooooohhhhhhhh thats the last time I use my card to pay for my kids travel then - I might invoke the indignation of the travel industry.........
OP its not that bad an idea, just one fraught with possible stumbling blocks. Keep thinking and I am sure that you will come up with an idea that will be less risky - and wont have travel agents terrified that you might nick £2.00 off them for flights that they would never have sold anyway! Remember that many people have had ideas that have been branded as risky or harebrained and they have had the last laugh when their ideas became solid money earners!0 -
It's not taking anything from the travel industry - travel agents don't sell Ryanair flights. So I couldn't care less whether he does it or not from that perspective.
It's about a third party (not *quite* the same as a parent as well you know!) buying a ticket for someone. Who's responsible when things go wrong? Who takes responsibility if the wrong names or flights are booked by the OP in error?
It IS a bad idea - check the Ryanair Ts and Cs. Also check the rules of selling air travel on ebay - it's a no-no unless you hold an ATOL licence.I am a Travel Agent My company’s ATOL/ABTA numbers are E7760/3970. How does that work? It's a £4 credit/debit card charge each way per person. You may need to check that. As either you got off lucky with a web problem or something is amiss...0 -
I wish I could say I would have the guts to use something like what the OP is suggesting- but infact I would be too wary.
I think though, with some good publicity to show its genuine and the buyer will not get ripped off, you could have something there.0
