Help please with Scottish Power
Hi there, I'd appreciate some help from people that understand these confounded bills better than I do!
In July this year we switched to Scottish Power Fixed Rate until August 2009. We have now received a letter from Scottish Power saying that our monthly DD will go up to £64 (from £42). I can understand this if we are simply using more electricity, however the bill shows an increase in unit price from September 2008. When I phoned to query this, the person on the phone said we weren't on a Fixed Deal (the latest bill calls it Premier Plus). We are waiting (have been for a few weeks) for someone to call us back to sort it out (they are still 'looking into it').
We do not have any heating, and are just 2 people. We use a washing machine 2-3 times a week, and lights, TV, Laptop in the evenings. We do not have any gas so our water is heated by electricity. We have hot water on for 2.5 hour per day on off-peak. We are on economy 7 as there were previously night storage heaters in the property which we removed as they did not work.
My main questions are:
1) Does anyone have the details of the actual unit price of the Fixed until August 2009 deal? Is it 4.224 and 9.873?
2) Our latest bill shows that there is no increase in the standing charge but there is an increase in the unit charge to 4.937 and 11.046. Surely this isn't what they meant by 'fixed price' ?
3) Was our original DD of £42 about right? I can provide meter readings if needed.
4) Our standing charge on latest bill is listed as 15.780p. However, from what we can work out from the 'Fixed Price booklet' it should be 26.74p. Which is right?
Don't mind paying more if we are using more, but not happy with price increases if we are supposed to be on a Fixed rate.
Many thanks for any advice.

Current prices for Scottish Power are available here:

It appears the rates you have quoted are the correct rates for the SWEB region for customers on the Premier Plus tariff.
Fixed priced tariff details are available here:

thanks premier, ok so they seem to have 'switched' us from the Fixed Rate to the Premier Plus plan. Have they done this to anyone else?£2008 in 2008 #113!
