I wanna cheap basic but with reasonable picture digital camera

Options
I'm looking for a very cheap compact camera - effectively a replacement for a disposable so should cost less than £50 and be small and easy to carry. It doesn't need any zoom features but should have fair picture quality at the end (at least 2MP) and a flash.

I see that tesco are offering key ring cameras for £14 but these have such pour resolution (360x240 I think)I don't think they would be any good. Any ideas?

  • Hi,

I bought a Premier 5 Megapixel camera from Tesco's yesterday on special offer. I had to visit 2 stores to find one. Picked up the thread from MSE somewhere, but can't direct you I'm afraid as I'm a newbie to the site. Wanted to put something back to MSE though as they gave me the tip in the first place.

Camera seems fine for £39.99, 2560 x 1920 resolution, 1.7inch tft colour image lcd monitor,16MB memory, takes sd cards, also takes short video clips, digital zoom. I had £11 in clubcard vouchers too, so it only cost me £28! Very happy so far.

Hope you find one today while the offers still on. Without the offer it's £10 more........on the internet it's £47 I think. Additional SD card 128 MB was a £10 from Tesco's too.

    Good Luck

Great will bear these two in mind. I had heard about the Premier one before Christmas but without the £10 discount. Me's thinking.

Sounding goods although not much difference in price between this and the 5mp one - though may still opt for the cheaper option as cheap is of the essence - i'm the type of person who will lose it within a year.

Does anyone know the link to get the cheap Tesco offer? This is my first posting and it's all very new to me.
Has anyone bought one of these cameras? I would also like to know how many photos a 128MB SD holds
    Thanks
  • How about this one from Amazon. 3.2 mp, made by kodak and free delivery all for £48.
  • 128 MB SD card on the premier camera from Tesco's gives:-

161 pictures at 3 megapixels (MP)
    103 pictures at 5 MP
86 pictures at 7 MP (interpolated)

These are the number of pictures you can store at MAXIMUM quality according to the manual that came with the camera........ haven't had a chance to check yet.

Drop the quality of the picture from maximum to minimum and you can roughly double the above figures.

    Hope this helps.

I've just found a 3MP Vivitar camera in ASDA for £25 - which looks good.

I think it is probably the same one as the one in argos for £40 - which makes it look even better.
