Abbey upgrade question.

Hi my sister has a Abbey basic account and she wants to upgrade her account, do they do external credit checks or are they based on your internal score with the bank?

My friend had a basic account with Abbey and she was upgraded after 6 months based on her internal score

bloody hell straight from a basic account to a full visa card, if you don't mind me asking was there payment of over £500 hundred pounds going in if you know, and is it like any other account no returned DD SO and never drain the account? thanks

Hi sutton111,

Although Abbey don't state how much to deposit minimum a month, the safe figure is £500 or more.

When I did this I was upgraded (a year ago) with Visa Debit card. I also had an overdraft of £200. I called them a few days ago and they automatically increased my overdraft to £1000 (no credit check) although the account is always in credit

The best thing to do is have money coming in and out and ask Abbey in 6 months to upgrade.

i don't think she had a bounced DD but I can't be sure. There was a weekly wage credit of around £180 going into the account

I killed a TSB account dead. Opened a basic with Abbey, within 6 months i had a £50 chq card and after a year I had £100 visa multifunctional card and £2600 overdraft. I had £5000 of debt on an administration order and Abbey were great to me.
