I wonder if someone could clarify a point re Windows Vista security.
I use XP but am setting up Vista, with no previous experience, for my mother. As there is no need for password control on the user identity sign on she doesn't currently have this set up. I see there is a lock option close to the logoff. If she should accidentally select this when intending logging off what would the consequences be ?
I am concerned it might lock up the machine, and if so would a reboot just free up the machine, but hope it will either:-
1) Just not work, as no password set up
2) Prompt for a password to lock the account, which could be ignored
3) Allow you to just hit enter ( blank ) as no password set up, if it does lock and ask for a password to unlock
If any Vista user can clarify this it would be very helpful. Thanks.
