Unblocking replacement iphone

We unblocked our old iphone from the Ziphone.org download but it has since stopped working.
Today I got a free replacement phone from Apple and I tried to use the same program to unblock but it won't work.
It says when I pick the phone up on itunes, that it needs a valid sim card so I put in an O2 payg but as soon as the ziphone starts, the phone goes straight into recovery mode and nothing else happens. I then have to restore the iphone from the itunes site.
We had no problems when we did the phone originally, so has something changed?

Apple probably have upgraded the software/baseband etc to prevent things like ziphone from running.0 -
It certainly looks that way. Has anyone any ideas for an alternative?0
