Egg Money- transactions timing problem?

Options
The problem is that the transactions do not appear on tha statement in the order that they were made. I took some cash out in the morning when I had a positive balance and I paid at the supermarket at 8 o'clock in the evening, and the purchases put me in the negative. This transactions appeared the other way arround on the statement, so I was charged interest for getting cash out. Now, Egg is insisting that I should be charged interest on the basis that they receive the transactions in the order that the retailer is sending them. I was telling them that is not my problem, is their problem with the retailer, but they don't want to do anything about it...Doesn't sound fair to me...

That's strange - I had a transaction 'below' the cash withdrawal once and got charged. I argued that the 'order was the order' and Egg reversed the 50p interest as goodwill. I didn't really have much to argue on but you have less (i.e. the statement doesn't support what you claim was the case and a statement is 'evidence') unless you retained the ATM and shop slips from the day in question?

How much are you getting charged in interest over this? This is one of those 'grey' areas that you can argue the facts till you're blue in the face whilst Egg itself is entitled to rely on the what the statement order says.

It does not help that Egg do not show a 'pending' total on their online system, which could help you work out if transactions have arrived or not.
  • I still got the receipts and told them exactly the time when the transactions were made. They said that they will check and then the answer was negative, because they can not check the exact times. They will just not do it. And it's about 50p and probably the same on the next statement. The problem is that if they charge 50p from a lot of people...Anyway, I was thinking to suggest them that I can send them the scanned receipts.

I would ask them for their official complaints procedure and then follow it. You have done nothing wrong!

    Cheers, Des.
