Metro Centre

Well sure it costs a lot to park if you park in NCP car parks (John Dobson St. or Greenmarket being the priciest car parks by far in Newcastle City Centre).... even the spirally car park on Percy Street (Eldon Square) and the one opposite (Eldon Garden) are cheaper and more central than either of the NCPs.
(here goes me shooting myself in the foot) if you park around Leazes Terrace, Terrace Place or Richardson Road (near SJP/RVI) it's less than 1/2 the cost of the the NCPs - ok they're not multistoreys but that just means it's easier to get away
If you're coming from the south, go park & ride at Heworth Metro station, or even the "Get Carter" car park in Gateshead town centre...... save yourself a drive over the river. Or P&R @ Regent Centre (save yourself that last 2-3 miles into town down the Great North Road).
If you want to be really cheeky, park at the MetroCentre and get the bus/train into Newcastle
But don't let me encourage you into Newcastle - I like it as it is - you can swell the crowds at the MetroCentre lol.
Have to agree though - the Metro Centre kills me - I think it's the tiled floors that don't allow you to grip your feet on the deck properly - I'd rather pay to park in Newcastle and have a choice of stores (eg. MetroCentre has House of Fraser as a department store, Newcastle has Bainbridges/John Lewis and Fenwicks) - in fact since the MetroCentre opened in whenever-it-was, I reckon I've managed to almost spend £100 there - including two six month stretches when I worked there lol - maybe it's good for me for moneysavingThere are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -
there is also a car park behind central station (near the post office) that is 20p an hour0

I'm not so keen on Newcastle City Centre. It's got quite a slope, especially when I walked back from the Quayside to John Dobson Street car park. I find that hard on my back. Parking costs a lot too.
Well, I suppose it was a little bit of a rant! I hate it because I always get a bad back and sore feet. A few days ago I was told you're more likely to get sore feet at the Metrocentre because they have underfloor heating. Whether that is true or not I don't know!
I tend no to go to the Quayside too often... except if I go to the Baltic Flour Mill or the Sage. Parking is not an issue for me as I can use the Metro but then again I could have a rant about the price of metro tickets nowadays lol! Have you seen the Vampire Rabbit near St Nicholas Cathedral?
Hunnymonster, Manors Car park? Shhhh! Don't tell anyone!!
Wasn't the Metrocentre open in 1988... seems to have coincided with me recovering from breaking up with my first serious boyfriend... Was taken there by a friend to cheer me up... I could have my dates wrong of course!!!!! You know all that trauma is confusing!!!0
