    You dont have to tell the Nationwide if you are going abroad. If you do tell them they reply back saying there is no need.

    That's true but it doesn't do any harm to let them know, so it's on file. We did this year and was told that it was helpful to stop identity fraud. As I have had 2 credit cards and 1 debit card stopped because of 'unusual activity' I wasn't taking any chances. It's amazing how companies think that some of my purchases were 'unusual', just because I hadn't purchased them before.
