Hi
I have a traveller digital camera. I plugged into my other computer with the usb, the computer did not respond to a new hardware device, so I unplugged it and came back to main computer.
My other computer was connected to the internet by an MSI wireless dongle now the other computer does not recognise that it is plugged in and I cannot connect to the internet.
I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it.
Tried System restore.
If I plug the dongle into my main computer it recognises a new hardware device.
If I plug in my mouse from the main computer into the other computer it recognises a new hardware devise.
Anyone got any ideas what to do next ?
Any ideas welcome
I am not a very techie person apart from being able to do the above

You don't say what OS you're using, but if it's a recent version of Windows, you can sometimes resolve this type of problem by going to Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager and uninstalling all of your USB controller devices.
When you reboot they should get detected and re-installed automatically.0 -
If your using VISTA then your gonna get troubles i had same problem as you and spent hours on net to resolve it, finally went back to Xp and it picked everything up.0

Strange that there seem to be quite a lot of posts about USB problems on various forums at the moment. I wonder if a recent Windows Update has fixed one problem and caused another for some chipsets?
There are a few Microsoft support pages that deal with the issue in general terms, such as this one:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310575
Unfortunately I suspect that most aren't relevant to your symptoms or have been tried already, but maybe worth a look.0 -
Thanks I have tried all those things and still I cannot get computer to recognise orginal usb device

Right the latest saga
Just had to get computer fixed cos I restored it and it just had enough it lost loads of the windows system and it had to be reinstalled. While I was in the shop someone came in and I was explaining about my problem. The bloke in the shop could not work out what my problem was.
The new chap - Bob says that when I installed the camera some of it's software took over the software of the MSI dongle and that is why it does not work.
He advised uninstalling both
I had already done, but when I tried to uninstal the MSI from systems it would not let me I had to uninstall it using the MSI CD.
Ah says Bob then you still have some MSI in your registry run the registry and uninstall any MSI you find. I did not find any but there were some on system 32 and C/ but I am not certain if some of it is MicroSoft.
Any suggestions as to programmed I could run that will sort this for me please? Is Malware something that can help me?0 -
Hi,
I have had similar problems myself - PC not recognising camera, USB drive etc. To resolve it I had to rename the drive applicable to the USB item.
To do this, right click on My Computer on your desktop and select Manage. Double click on Storage (on right hand side of screen), then double click on Disk Management.
Providing you have the removable drive plugged in, then it should appear in this window. Right click on the drive name (ie: E:/) and select Change Drive Letter and Paths. Click Change and select another letter that you know isn't already in use on your PC. Ok your way out again and the camera/USB drive etc should appear.
Hope this helps

Hi thanks for that I have not reinstalled the device should I do that first?
Otherwise I have followed your instructions with usb plugged in and I have only got (C) showing0 -
Hi,
Yes I would install the USB first, then follow those instructions. Hopefully you should see the USB item listed under the C drive.
