Help - My keyboard is not working correctly

It happened a few weeks ago and just happened again. The PC needs several re-starts and my keep plugging the cable in for it to work again but is there a longer term solution I should do. Should I buy a USB connect cable in case it is the plug/socket on back of PC? Or what
A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.
