not amused with eon

Hello.

I changed to eon from Npower in August of this year, and although they sent me letters/did meter readings etc straight away, I am still waiting for the change to go through. So far I haven't paid eon anything at all. I changed because one of the compare websites said I'd save hundreds from what I was paying, but when I received from eon the breakdown of what I'd be paying it was actually MORE per month (£75 gas and elec instead of £60 with npower) I did mean to have a proper look at this at the time I got the letter, but never got round to it.

However, I have just received a letter saying that the gas and elec prices are going up from 1 Nov. In fact, when I compared them, it seems that they have almost doubled the daily standing charge. I haven't benefitted from their low prices at all, but I'm also really surprised that the gas prices are RISING when oil/petrol etc has gone down.

Is this just eon doing this? I feel that I've been fleeced just to get me to be their customer.

Should I change again? Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks, T.

It's not a new price incr. I guess the Op went for Online Extra saver and there's a thread on the forum about this.

thanks for your replies. i spoke to them yesterday. I am of course free to change suppliers if I want. They said I was still on a good rate (well they would say that!) even though the standing charge has gone up by almost 40%. They couldn't say what my monthly DD would go up by because they haven't actually taken anything yet due to the changeover taking so long!

I think it is the online extra saver rate, so I'll go and check out the relevant post.

I know there is always a chance that rates will change once you are on them, I just didn't expect it to go up so much before I had actually even been connected!

.... and today I have had money taken out of my account by both EON (£75) and NPOWER (£41 - the gas bit of the DD)

    What's going on here?

This was meant to SAVE me money
