Making cards - Ideas for a card craft beginner (part 2)

Well ladies I am confused, I have found a big squeeze die-cutting machine thingie for 25.00 with an alphabet, which is cheap but I'm really unsure whether to get it or not. The alternative is the cuttlebug that everyone seems to be raving about, but is a lot dearer, and my understanding is that you can do a lot more with it - embossing, bigger dies etc. So do I spend the extra and get the cuttlebug, which is a bit more really than I wanted to spend??????????
Anyway call me your fairy godmother, I have found an obscure site which is selling the lace tree thingie for 3.99, and it looks like postage is free over 5.00. They don't stock much, but they do have a few embossing folders for that price:

Is that a quickutz squeeze? Sorry haven't tried one or even seen one other than on Artymiss.
I think (don't quote me though) the dies are compatible with the cuttlebug so if you bought that and then decided to upgrade you could still use them.
It's no good asking for my opinion I'm a cuttlebug convertOfficially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Paddingtondoo - yes it is. I know Polly loves her cuttlebug too, but I wasn't sure whether I wanted to spend that much - aaahhhhh.
Bunbun2 - fantastic cards - well done!
Polly - the embossed tree looks fabulous!

I was originally going to buy a sizzix machine - the big heavy one but didn't want to part with the cash and wasn't sure how much I would use it so bought a sidekick which is a mini one that will cut smaller cuttlebug dies (including alphabets) and sizzlits (not the thick dies) - not sure if it has embossing folders but think so.
Had it for 18months loved it and then upgraded - I still use it sometimes as the cuttlebug can be a bit tempramental with the sizzlits dies

My cuttlebug arrived :j I persuaded Mr Pink to let me have a little play with it (just to check it worked, you understand
) and it's fabulous! The meanie only let me have a few minutes with it before he whisked it away and hid it.
I tried telling him there is very grave danger of me playing with it so much on Christmas day that there will be no Christmas dinner cooked, but unfortunately he didn't fall for it.
melissa, thanks for the link to the lace tree :T I'd love one of those and I was going to buy it online but the website doesn't have the secure padlock thingy at the bottom of the page when asking for credit card details so just to be on the safe side I'll try to order it over the phone in the morning.
I'm afraid I'm biased towards the cuttlebug too....I just love it and one of the good things about it is that it seems to take most other types of die. If you do decide you want one I've seen it here for £49.99 including free p&p, although I'm sure saveapenny mentioned one at £46?
paddingtondoo, you and your alphabets!I wish I wasn't so like you!
Marg, did you get to grips with your cuttlebug?
I'm off to make a rugby card for my son who's rugby mad and is 15 on Thursday....hope it turns out ok as it's the first male card I've made and I'm lacking inspiration. I much prefer working with flowers and ribbons than balls and boots.

Hello Pink Winged
Not had much time to play today & plan (like you) to do a lot with it over the Christmas holidays. Polly has replied on another thread with some useful hints and I'm sure I'll get used to it when I have more time to play!0 -
I love my cuttlebug, just bought a set of Nestabilities scalloped circles for it, and everything I make now has scalloped circles! In a better financial position than ever before (thank you MSE!). Moved back to Scotland and now trying to keep debt-free!0

Hi melissa
I got a quickcutz with an alphabet earlier this year and it's great for doing numbers for cards and the letters will be fab for scrapbook pages.
My daughter has bought me a cuttlebug for xmas and the quickcutz dies work in that but i think i'll hang on to bothCross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20
