Gas & Electricity Prices

Why is there nowhere which offers a straight forward comparison on prices with different suppliers - I simply want to know what they charge per unit so that I can work out the costs on my own usage myself - it would be great to have an up to date chart - does one exist ?
I have spent a fair amount of time gathering data to work some figures out for myself - for those interested - this is based upon a 4 bedroom semi (8 years old so reasonably energy efficient) with gas central heating and of course double glazing. My quarterly usage is 3000 Electricity units and 6875 Kw Gas.
All prices are for online- direct debit - quarterly billing - the discount at the end reflects either a generous percentage discount (EON) or a miserly fixed amount discount (Scottish Power).
Looks like EON is the cheapest - unless i have got my figures wrong !
Scottish Power
(Electric first 222 13.895p, then 10.283p) £316.51
(Gas first 1143 4.23p, then 3.461p) £246.72
Discount £6.53
Total quarterly bill £525.54
Atlantic (my current supplier)
(Electric first 17.17p, then 12.29p) £379.67
(Gas first 1143 4.42p, then 3.37p) £243.68
Discount £31.16
Total quarterly bill £592.18
EON
(Electric first 23.25p, then 8.868p) £298.39
(Gas first 670 4.235p, then 3.461p) £243.09
Discount £54.15
Total quarterly bill £487.33

Apart from extracting information from price comparison sites, I'm not aware of any updated list.
You may also want to include cashback in your comparison table when switching. Of course its worth pointing out that the cashback is never guaranteed etc. When I switched to Scottish Power in July (they were the cheapest for me at the time anyway), I received £72 cashback.0 -
Well firstly your calculations are incorrect assuming you mean annual not quarterly consumption.
You have used 670 and 1143 as the tier 1 allocation but those are quarterly allocations. You need to use 2680 or 4572kWh Same with Electric
Have you tried entering your data into the comparison websites and see what they come up with?
If you know(as you do) your kWh data, the comparison sites are pretty accurate. You can find out the exact details from the tariff on these sites.
You seem to have done an awful lot of work for something that can be done in seconds.
EDIT - USwitch doesn't agree with your prices - this is for London(SW1) using the data you stated.
