I would definitely speak to the local toy library as suggested above. My s-i-l used to run one and says funding is likely to get tight if they cease to get money from local businesses (likely) or the council finds that it needs to cut funding on such items (at least a possibility).
A lot of less well off people will also do their Christmas shopping at charity shops. That way you could get to help two good causes with one donation. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Contact your local women's refuge, or contact women's aid for it, they are always in need of all kinds of help.

How about local children's charities. As for funding councils will cut back on what they consider to be non essential services. Toy libraries are on that list. I have been told by a local organisation their budget was cut by the council.0

I have posted on here in another thread - I used to work at a childrens hospital, we were always inundated despite having vry few kids in over christmas, and few of them being in financial need.
We often had to pass on a lot of what we got to other charities, which caused us more work, so I would recomend looking for places where the kids may not get much of a christmas at all - womens aid shelters, homeless hostels where children with their families may be temporarily accomodated etc.0
