LCD TV Help!!!

I have come across this offer at Amazon [Sony KDL-32V4000 32" LCD ]which I am tempted to buy.

Would this type of TVs work in other countries [like India] as I am planning to send this in future.

I tried calling Sony, who were not very helpful [saying ''dont know'' ''might not work'']

Much appreciate your advice

It's difficult to say if it will work in India or any other country for that matter, as Sony's technical specs are vague about what "localisation" is made specifically for the UK.

A much safer bet would probably be to buy a TV with HDMI and SCART inputs but no built-in digital tuners, and then get appropriate set-top boxes locally in India for cable, satellite or terrestrial digital services.

    Thanks for your reply
I am not concerned about the digital tuner.......
Would this do the basic functions [receiving normal TV signal]?
It would be too expensive to send this and bring back if doesnt work.

For analogue TV you ~should~ be OK, as the system there is PAL with the same line frequency as the UK. I didn't check whether the frequency range used in India is the same as here, but IMO it's unlikely that it will be drastically different.

You might want to check it out for confirmation on somewhere like Avforums though.

If you were to buy a LCD I would always go for one with a digital tuner regardless if you use a external freeview box or sky. Because one day you may cancel sky and teher are very few external freeview boxes with hdmi

So are you saying that a UK spec built-in digital tuner will definitely work in India?
