    3 Options

    1. Press and hold your windows key then press the pause break key, this should open up the system properties box with the details there.

    2. Find your My Computer Icon, right click then select properties.

    3. Open up Control Panel, look along the top where you have file, edit view etc, select the help option and then select About Windows.

Open up my documents ----> click on 'help' on the top toolbar --->click on 'about windows'.

All the info should be there.

  • Thanks - found it. I know it sounds silly but it just says Windows 98. Does that mean I just have windows 98 or would it say Windows 98SE if I had that.

I have Windows XP, but from previous experience, it would say "Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition" (the SE stands for Second Edition)

  • Thanks its just I want an MP3 player and the last one I bought says compatible with Windows98 so I got it but then inside on the instructions it said Windows98SE and it wouldnt work.
  • Win 98 SE had USB support, you can get USB support on Win 98 but can't remember what you have to do now :0

Do a search on google, you should get some hits.

  • Hi
Have you thought about buying a pci usb card, which fits into your computer. I think the Nec ones work with windows 98, but you'll have to check

    Hope this helps
