scanner from Currys with wrong lead

This is not a complaint - yet. I was given a scanner bought from Currys last week, it came with a 2 pin power plug. I went today to ask if they had an adaptor to fit and was told that it was a continental fitting and should not have been sold. They have told me to take everything back, and they will see what can be done to replace it. They don't have another the same in stock to replace it with.
Can somebody please tell me what are my rights? Are they obliged to replace it with one of at least equal standard, if not better. (it was on special offer) I really need the scanner and don't particularly want my money back
Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place.

Any electrical item sold in the UK should be fitted with a three pin plug (apparently the government ruled a few years ago that the average Briton is too stupid to wire up a three pin plug .. and they were probably correct).
The big issue that may be of importance though is whether or not the scanner is actually meant to work on a 240v power supply. In some cases those with 2 pin plugs will only work on 110V - and therefore plugging it in would cause it to fry.
You will be entitled to your money back or an exchange or, if the scanner is OK for UK usage then they might simply give you the correct power cable (they are not obliged to give you anything 'better' .. but they may do so as a gesture of good will).

Been to Currys. Scanner replaced with one of much the same spec, but £10 dearer, at no charge. Not sure what would have happened if I'd picked one that was a lot more expensive, though! I'm happy.0

In 10,000 boxes? With a scanner for use on the continent?
I can also wire a plug, but I also know the voltage differences and there would have been no point in sending 240v through it.0 -
Most electrical items are able to work on 110 or 240v, if you look on the side of the box of most new electrical items you will see a little flap, this is where they post the power cable through when they know what country the goods are for. Alot of goods come with both leads as the 2 pin leads are put in at manufacture and the 3 pin leads added later when the destination country has been decided upon.0
