ICESAVE Help : Nominated account was closed

As i transfered all my ISA savings from my Natwest ISA account to the Icesave ISA, Natwest automatically closed the Isa once it was emptied.

Therefore the 'nominated' account where the funds came from is now c losed, so cant recieve my money back.

They said that i may have to wait till DSecember when the paper based applications are released.

Does anyone know a way around this?

I rang Natwest and they cant re-open the old Isa, only make a new account.

Thank you

  • Pretty sure there's a way round it, but I didn't have an ISA so i can't help you, but I'll have bumped you up so someone should see it, if not try some of the longer threads, there are people on some of them who could know more.

The Natwest ISA won't be your nominated account. You would have provided details of a current account for Icesave to set up a direct debit with to deposit & withdraw. This is the account you'll be paid compensation to.

No, the money was withdrawn direct from the Natwest isa account. so didnt need to give my current account details

So you therefore don't have a linked (="nominated") account. So you will need to use the paper process like they say. You will be asked to specify a method of payment (e.g. BACS to an account you can choose, cheque in the post, etc) on the paper form. No way round it :(

Sorry if this is stating the obvious, but are you absolutely sure you weren't required to give details of a linked account when you opened it? There's no way they'd have accepted another ISA account as a linked account (it's usually a current or savings account).

I've just filled in an ISA transfer form / new ISA account form and there's two sections - one for details of the old ISA (on the transfer form) and one for details of my linked account (my current account) on the new account form.

I'm not sure you would have been able to open the Icesave ISA in the first place without a linked account (not an old ISA). Maybe you need to call them and check, I think they still have a skeleton staff there.
  • I have an icesave ISA and have received both FSCS emails. I've logged into my icesave account as the 2nd email instructed.

The first page I see on logging in is the application to withdraw my money via my linked account. Two problems:

    1. The application asks me to confirm that I have checked my account balance and my linked account, but I can't get out of this page without cicking on 'confirm' so there is no way I can check it. How did everyone else check it?

    2. Because I transferred my ISA I am pretty sure I don't have a linked account (I kept a spare icesave cash ISA transfer form, and there is no place to fill in a linked account). How can I check that?

    Advice gratefully received!

You'll have to claim by the paper forms.

I thought the linked account would be the one where the deposits/withdrawals go into/from your icesave ISA after the initial transfer of your isa into Icesave

    (hope that is right)
