Power hungry mp3 player

Hi

My son got an mp3 player (1GB), for Christmas. It runs off 1 AAA battery, and it's eating them up. It's on it's 3rd in as many days, fresh one in this morning, and he's used it for about 30 mins today, and already the battery power is down to it's final bar.

Is this normal? Spec says 6 to 10 hours. Have looked on the company web site and there's not much help there, any ideas guys? Can the battery be discharging whilst it's switched off?

Cheers

  • Hi
Sometimes it all depends on what settings you have on, i.e does it have a graphics equaliser, if it does set it to normal, and how loud it is does he have it on, but your certaintly not getting a long time for a battery. Have you tried rechargeable batteries? If the Spec says 6 to 10 hours, then it could be a faulty player, can you take it back and swap it.
  • Look for a Set of Rechargables.

Look for the Higher mAH - the higher the better.

I bought a set of 4 of ebay, 950 mAH, and they last like 8 hours, whereas the others lasted about 30 minutes!!!!

On the Tesco 256MB MP3 player thread, someone pointed out that on ebay you can get 4 1000mAh AAA NiMH Rechargeable Batteries for £3.50 + free delivery here

I bought some of these batteries myself last week and and received them the next day.
