Reclaiming Credit Card Charges!!

I just phoned my credit card company Vanquis asking for my statements over the last 8 months or so, after reading the article about reclaiming late payment fees etc. It says that companies arnt allowed to charge more than £10 for this info, however they said there would be a charge of £5 per statement if I want a copy are they allowed to do that? Its annoying because I only have about 4 statements the rest were shredded when my mum decided to clean out :( and I have been charged around £90 for missing payments n all. Any help please anyone?

Thanks.

    It's a technical thing.

If you want copies of statements - they can charge £5 per sheet or whatever their admin costs will be.

If you do a subject access request, the maximum fee will be £10 but you will not receive copies of your statements. You will receive information contained in your statements, but probably in a different layout taken straight from the computer database. This is the difference, so you don't really want copies of the statements - just the information contained in the statement.

There are template letters for a SAR on the debt free wannabe board somewhere.
