hi there
Wonder if any of you kind people might know.
My next door neighbour has rented out his property again and there is a new group of people moving in, the problem is they have installed a massive satellite dish on the front of the house.
I dont have an issue with them having a satellite dish, the previous people had one and so do we but this is enormous and looks ridiculous and tacky.
We dont live in a posh area by any standard but this dish makes their house and ours look nasty. What can I do ??
Thanks in advance

check with your local council planning dept re the size of dishes allowed.
(it may/could get hit with some bricks at 3AM).Get some gorm.0 -
Just how big is 'massive' - can you upload some photos???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

I am fairly sure that any dish is allowable up to 1 metre without planning consent, unless of course it is a listed building, highly unlikely.0

How awful ! do they drive a Lada as well ? :rolleyes:0 -
tell them about the great deals available on cable.I am a building surveyor and will provide advice based upon what you tell me. It is just that, advice and not instructions. Based on the fact you're getting it for free expect it to be vague!0

The obvious suggestion, which I'm sure you considered before posting, is to contact your local council and find out what the regulations are on satellite dishes.
I appreciate that the aesthetics of one's home are incredibly important. However, once you have spoken to the council and confirmed it is not in breach of any regulations, it might be worth considering how much time you really, really spend standing outside your home and looking at it. In fact, you probably spend a lot more time standing inside and looking out so that, seems to me, to be the area to worrry about. If you spent a lot of time looking at the front of your house you either work across the road or need to get a hobby.
If you can see it from inside, then I'm sure a bit of creative planting could sort that out. If you haven't got much of a garden, you can still grow a pretty big tree in a giant pot. If you are worried about what your visitors think - just invite them round after dark.0 -
our neighbours got one - i'm not sure if its a 'dodgy' one so that they can get free sky or what?? They are Polish so i think it allows them to pick up Polish programmes - its a pale grey colour and stands out a mile.
must agree it looks awful and is situated just besides the upstairs window so you can't miss it.0
