Web Hosting recommendations.

Can anybody recommend a good hosting company?

Want to create my own forum type site and am looking at spending no more than £5 a month really. At the moment I am using proboards and am finding them really slow and full of ads so just want to branch out and get my own domain and no adverts etc.

Forum wont be too busy, approx 100 members at the moment, but hopefully this will get so much higher in the future so maybe an unlimited host?

Any recomendations and advice that could be offered would be much appreciated as i am completely new to this and there is so much out there.

Thanks in advance

Shaun

I use streamline they do various packages, however i am on the unlimited package...unlimited space and bandwidth for £30-£40 per year with a free domain name.

Ive been with them for 3 years now and they have been very good. They also have a website builder that you can get for free.
  • I have used Krystal Hosting since 2006, having moved away from Streamline.net (Fasthosts reseller) as they couldn't run ZenCart and then doubled charged me. Krystal run cPanel for easy instalation of a whole load of open source apps and are real people at the end of the phone plus excellent value for money.

I need to move my website off MSN Live in the next couple of weeks and relichost seem to offer a fairly good basic package (which is all I'm looking for just now) for £6/year!

I don't know a lot about the whole website/hosting thing so it'd be interesting to get someone elses perspective on what they're offering compared to the "average".
  • I'm on Streamline as well and am not impressed in the slightest. Its a bit slow and I cannot get on my email using either my own Email client or their online one. Their support is crap too. I sent them a non-account specific question and they told me to ring them up.

Will be switching to CSNewMedia in a month

Some good reviews on RelicHost. They seem to offer a hell of a lot for £6.00 as well. Which always screams 'catch'
  • Personal recommendation for 1and1.co.uk

Have used them for the last couple of years and they have been very good
  • Sorry guys, i am not a spammer or associated with the company. I do apologise and have deleted my previous comments and just wanted to help everyone out here in the forum. I hope we can start again save-a-lot and antispam and you guys can give me advise, sorry about the confusion. James
