Urgent help needed re: CC app, searches by Fraud Dept and CIFAS

Hi everyone, first of all this is not my first post but I had to re-join to post this as my sign on name was simply my name with no spaces and I'm very weary of putting details on this forum in such detail but I need your help.

I recently applied online for a cc with a company who will remain nameless. I got the, you will hear from us within 7-10 days blurb. This was on Tuesday last week.

I checked my credit file and they have credit searched me three times and there are over 11 other entries under other searches where they have made searches re: associate (who is nothing to do with me), her name is slightly similar to mine, mine being, for example (not real), Justine Cameron Sams and the name of the associate they are searching is Justine Sams Chambers. We share the first name and part of her middle name is similar but she is not me. At first I thought this was a connection to my maiden name but it is not as it clearly shows someone with a different middle name. I'm assuming this something that has been flagged up by Hunters.

Initially I thought they would just decide to decline for whatever reason and realise there was nothing to it, but they do not seem to be letting up. As I said they have now searched 14 times and there were 2 more yesterday. The searches they have done on this associate are listed as X Bank, X Bank's (Fraud).

I'm really concerned and tried to call to find out what was going on but they were really shifty and would only say they will write to me.

I don't want any more of these searches on my file, I don't know whether lenders will see them but I certain don't like the accusation.

Question is, what should I do, I'm really scared that they will stick a CIFAS entry on my file even though there is no proof or anything to suggest she is me as I've heard of rougues doing this before "just in case".

Should I fax them and tell them that I am withdrawing my application and also withdrawing permission for them to carry out any further searches on me, or will this get their goat and will they slap a CIFAS on me anyway.

Surely after conducting so many searches they should realise they will get no further information than the last one, i.e. they cannot find any conclusive link, otherwise they would have CIFAS'd me by now.

How long can they continue to batter my files with this nonsense? Surely they have a timeframe for these things mad.gif
