Not sure if this is the right place I'm a newby!!!
Wondered if anyone knew of a way to haggle online? my partner is building a new computer from scratch, buying all the components and screens keyboards etc. This amounts to quite a lot of money and I wondered if there was any way to get a discount. can anyone help?

If hes buying them all from the same place then send them an email. I haggled buying an assortment of hifi cables with 20% discount AND no postage costs.
HOWEVER. if its ammounted to such a high cost, would it not be cheaper to buy a 'bare bones' pc (dell for example) then add to it afterwards?:idea:0 -
I've head that it's possible to haggle with Dell over the phone0

Personally, I'd just shop around to get the cheapest prices (rather than trying to negotiate). Don't forget to have a look at www.quidco.com - there are quite a few suppliers of PC components who will give you cashback for being referred by them.0

When you're paying £9 for 2GB of RAM, just how much room do you think there is for haggling?
Component prices at Aria/Scan et al are already at rock bottom and they have so many customers, they don't need to entertain discounts.0 -
Whenever I price up A Dell PC on their website, I always ring them up and start negotiating then. This has been successful all the time for me.My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0

Just to add to Conor's comment, it's possible to get free postage at Scan (which is what usually swings it for me), usually by being a member of the hexus forums (although I think there's one or two other forums, also requires minimum number of posts at forum)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Not really. Whilst it may be a lot to you, they're doing £100,000's per day of trade. The amount of profit they make is in the region of the 3-5%.0 -
Try getting some codes from the appropriate MSE board, that might help. Not sure if this is the right place I'm a newby!!!
