I have a mate who works for a domestic appliance repair company and this is what he told me.
The cheapest in the long run is always a Miele.
Most of the big brand UK machines such as hotpoint last on average 6 years and don't do as good a job as a Miele.
Miele machines last an average of 25 years without repair. My Miele cost £499 on the net. I would need 4 machines to last 6.25 years each costing £125 each for them to be as cheap as a Miele and that's assuming you want the inconvenience of a new machine every 6 years! Repair centres make a living out of fixing hotpoints and don't know what a Miele looks like!
Don't worry about buying a low spec cheapo Miele either. The results will be as good as a high spec Hotpoint.
    Cash ISA rate 6.5% fixed for 2 years. Mortgage rate 0.75% = 5.75% profit on £75K = £4500 per year:j
Mortgages make money. Definitely don't wanabee mortgage free!
