Yes as a banker barclays have right to close your account that too with prior notice. For your card they must have blocked it. try sorting out issue with the help of your attorney.

All accounts can be closed by a bank, the main reason is persistant and unauthorised borrowing, bounced dd's etc."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".

True. But we don't close accounts without giving notice unless there is "abnormal" behaviour, which amounts to either fraud or smacking our staff about.
If you're in debt problems, your account will first be referred off to Consumer Finance Debt Management, which is our collections/recoveries department. They then have set processes, but they don't go straight to closing the account - the typical process will be a termination of facilities letter (stopping card, cheque, asking for their return) and then a closure letter after that if the debt still isn't repaid.Crap_with_money.com wrote: »I think with some accounts you have to have a certain amount of money going into your account every month in order to keep it open - that was defo the case when my bro went travelling, as he added me as a second person on the account so I could transfer money every month for him.
None of the Barclays current accounts require a minimum monthly credit.MrsPitcher2b wrote: »I now have to take time off work to go and sort out something that no one can even tell me what it is!!!

True, you can go to any branch. They all have access to the same information.

Coincidentally, the branch on Regent Street used to open on a Sunday. For reference, such payments are usually returned to the payee by the same system they arrived. What would William Shatner do?0
