Unauthorised Card Payment of £905 help

in Credit cards
I have a goldfish card which i have learnt has been taken over by barclays.
On the 3rd september goldfish took from my abbey bank account £905 via a debit card payment, this payment was not authorised by me i did not ask them to take this money. i do have a credit card with goldfish which is now barclays but pay all balances via direct debit so have no reason to pay via debit card etc..
my bank confirm the payment was sent to goldfish, i have statements from goldfish but not one of them shows this payment. i have rung barclays and they say it has nothing to do with them as it happened before they took over the goldfish business which i dispute 110%.
I work abroad a lot and have only just returned and noticed the problem.
What can i do to get my money back barclays and abbey are both washing their hands of the whole thing where do i turn next ???
thanks for the help

So the £905 didn't arrive on your Goldfish account?
It sounds like a fraudulent card transaction to someone's Goldfish account. It's just coincidence that you also have a Goldfish account
You need to contact Abbey and dispute the payment, there's a process they have to go through if you say you didn't make the payment. Don't complicate things by telling Abbey you have a Goldfish account - the fact is you didn't authorise any debit card payment to Goldfish so it's up to Abbey to investigate.0 -
Thanks for that i will try abbey again,, dont seem to be getting any where0

I would agree with the above comment
also according to
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/4260806.stm
assuming abbey is visa debit then they should be able to use the chargeback scheme to just reverse the payment
Is that the only transaction? I'd watch out for others in case your card has been cloned or something. You haven't mislaid/lost your card I assume?Indecision is the key to flexibility

Yes, Abbey are the ones to pursue - Barclays/Goldfish probably haven't done anything wrong as they've just accepted a payment - which can be done by anyone to any card number.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

Have a read of the thread below :

It would appear that you are not alone and their are some horrendous stories of fraud related to the Goldfish\Barclaycard takeover.
As for Abbey's comment about 60 days, this is rubbish, they have got the facilities to trace the money in this day and age, push them on it, and do not take NO for an answer. Its your money and you want it back, that is your right. If all else fails there is always the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).0
